More than a century after disappearing from public view, Moëhr is returning as a contemporary fragrance house rooted in one of Monaco’s most storied hospitality traditions. Originally established in 1881 beneath the Grand Hôtel de Monte-Carlo, the brand has been revived by brothers Vincent and Nicolas Poylo, who have reimagined its legacy through a collection that blends historical research, artisanal craftsmanship and modern perfumery.
The original founder, Nestor Moëhr, belonged to a generation of artisans brought together by legendary hotelier César Ritz to shape the experience of luxury hospitality. While Ritz eventually moved on to Paris, Moëhr remained in Monaco, building a respected fragrance house that expanded across Europe before gradually fading from history following the closure of the Grand Hôtel.
For the Poylo brothers, the revival is deeply personal. Raised in a family hotel environment, they developed an early appreciation for hospitality and storytelling. Vincent later worked alongside acclaimed chef Mauro Colagreco at Mirazur, while Nicolas contributed to the creative world of Officine Universelle Buly. Their shared interest in heritage and sensory experiences ultimately led them to rediscover the forgotten Moëhr archives.
Developed in collaboration with fragrance manufacturer Mane, the debut collection consists of six Eaux de Parfum created using supercritical CO₂ extraction, an advanced solvent-free technique that captures aromatic compounds without exposing ingredients to heat. Each fragrance is inspired by an imagined guest of the Grand Hôtel and paired with a fictional culinary identity. The collection includes Septime, Swann, Sinclair, Jadis, Otis and Benedict, each exploring a distinct blend of florals, spices, woods and resins.
The attention to detail extends beyond the scents themselves. Bottles draw inspiration from nineteenth-century decorative objects, featuring zinc caps referencing the original hotel bar, handcrafted Venetian glass and enamel calligraphy by Mexican artist Esteban Fuentes de Maria.
Launching on 1 June at Antonia in Milan, Moëhr begins a new chapter before expanding across Europe and opening its first dedicated Milan boutique in Fall 2026.
