Bugatti has entered a bold new chapter in its storied history with the launch of Programme Solitaire, an ultra-exclusive coachbuilding initiative dedicated to creating truly one-of-a-kind automobiles. The debut creation, named Brouillard, honors Ettore Bugatti’s favorite horse and embodies the French marque’s fusion of artistry, heritage, and engineering excellence.
Taking personalization far beyond the already bespoke Sur Mesure program, Programme Solitaire will see Bugatti produce no more than two such commissions each year. Each will be based on an existing platform yet entirely reimagined—every curve, surface, and detail crafted uniquely for its owner.
Brouillard is more than just a car—it’s a sculptural tribute to Bugatti’s artistic lineage. Drawing from the powerful musculature of horses, its bodywork appears chiseled, flowing with tension and elegance. The sweeping lines are complemented by a cathedral-like glass roof, bathing the cabin in light and accentuating the craftsmanship within. Inside, bespoke tartan fabrics, green-tinted carbon fiber accents, and a gear shifter housing a hand-crafted sculpture of Ettore’s beloved horse create a space that feels part gallery, part grand tourer.
Underneath the artistry lies raw performance: Bugatti’s legendary 1,600 PS W16 engine, ensuring that this rolling work of art drives as spectacularly as it looks. The creation reflects not just Ettore’s passion for engineering but also the creative spirit of the Bugatti family—from Carlo Bugatti’s ornate furniture to Rembrandt Bugatti’s bronze sculptures.
Commissioned by a dedicated Bugatti collector, Brouillard signals a return to the golden age of coachbuilding. The concept harks back to the 1920s and ’30s, when Jean Bugatti brought bespoke body design in-house, resulting in icons like the Type 57 SC Atlantic. Programme Solitaire seeks to revive that spirit for the modern era, offering discerning clients the chance to commission automotive art that exists nowhere else in the world.
With Brouillard, Bugatti proves that in a world chasing mass production, true exclusivity still thrives. It’s not simply about customization—it’s about storytelling, heritage, and creating a singular vision on wheels. As the first of what will be only two such creations per year, Brouillard sets the tone for what promises to be some of the most ambitious and artistic vehicles ever to wear the Bugatti badge.
