Acne Studios opens the doors to its first location in Bangkok’s Siam Paragon shopping mall, located in the heart of the city’s Siam shopping district. Composed from textures of pink granite – a reference to Acne Studios’ signature hue – the store continues a global design ethos defined by an expressive materiality, at once sculptural and refined. Following the recent opening of a new flagship in Aoyama, Tokyo, this expansion further strengthens Acne Studios’ presence across the Asia-Pacific region.
The newly opened space was conceived by Acne Studios creative director Jonny Johansson and Swedish architecture studio Halleroed in a continuing collaboration, echoing the design vernacular of other recent openings. Namely, an extensive use of pink granite: here, the distinctive material is used across the store’s facade, as well as forming the interior flooring and a series of monolithic pillars, while matte plaster walls offer a textural contrast.
Populating the space are a series of furnishings and fixtures by longtime collaborators, including seating by British furniture designer Max Lamb, a series of bold, undulating forms in tufted fabric. Fixtures come in geometric stainless steel, including a metal payment desk, an industrial mood echoed in custom strip lighting by the French artist and long-standing Acne Studios collaborator Benoit Lalloz.
Together, this dialogue between materials, furnishings and lighting reaches what Johansson and Halleroed call an ‘unexpected harmony’ – a reflection of Acne Studios’ collections, which are rooted in ideas of juxtaposition, creativity and play.
For its unveiling, the store will showcase FW25 looks from the men’s and women’s collections alongside shoes and accessories, including the brand’s new icon, the Camero bag. To celebrate the opening, a limited-edition exclusive Acne Studios Loves Bangkok t-shirt will be available alongside a series of early Trompe L’œil drops.
